character design concept art

I've been looking at concept art for games, and did a little character design of my own using Photoshop & a pen tablet. Grunge background is courtesy of Google image search.

vector alien

I've been checking out the pen tool in Photoshop, and have made my first vector drawing based on one of my sketches. I always make such a mess when I do anything creative, so it's very satisfying to be able to make something so neat and clean and perfect. I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon.

The eyes are sampled from a picture of some eye disease I found, it sounds nasty but I think it looks pretty.

3d illustrations by Zamak

My foxy man-friend works with 3d computer graphic modeller, so he has shown me a lot of cool 3d artists, including Zamak.
Olivier Bucheron, aka Zamak, breaks the anatomy of the 3d bodies he creates down into blobs and circular parts. Most of them are robots, or weird creatures - and they all have the same recognizable style.

The foxy man-friend wants to teach me one of the easier 3d modelling programs(Z-brush). A part of me says "noo I already have too many interests and hobbies to keep them all up.." and an other part of me says "YAAY come on, it will be like polymer clay, only it's impossible to get it dirty and full of carpet fluff, and I bet I can make some funky 3d stuff!?".

What do you think? Should I learn Z-brush, or focus on painting, drawing, beading, knitting - and all the other things that I do?

dreamy illustrations by Aya Kato

Manga+art nouveau. you've probably already guessed that she's Japanese. So much cool stuff is coming from Japan!

I sort of feel like I should say something Christmasy but I can't come to think of much. I hope you all ate tons of food, got drunk and avoided drama. Oh and I hope you didn't get any Christmas ornaments for Christmas.

Victorian Alien

Victorian Alien started out as a quick painting on an envelope for my friend Elsa, but has undergone some improvements in Photoshop with my boyfriend's neat electronic pen-thing that lets me draw directly into the computer. Digital playthings are good fun.

more magic mushroom induced art madness

when asked about what inspires his work, larry carlson answers the following;

"To stay inspired, I look at a lot of different kinds of art in museums, galleries, and online. Many of the ideas for my art come to me in dreams and visions, so i spend a lot of time cultivating a 'mystcal state of mind". A lot of people think all my work comes from just tripping on psychoactive's. While I do get very inspired by hallucinogenic, especially natural ones, my technique for making art is more like entering a mystical transcendental state where i'm kind of lost in what im doing. I work best in a deep trance state where the universal influence of color, image, and rhythm comes out intuitively. "

ray caesar cute trend

Here's Ray Caesar's work, it's all 3d and glossy, cute and disturbing. It seems like there's a trend of cuteness combined with disturbing. I feel like I've seen it a lot. I like it, though, so I don't mind seeing more!

oleg dou

russian artist oleg dou calls himself a photographer, but his photos are so computerized they've nearly forgotten that they once where photos of actual models.

alien faced no eyebrow beauties! beauty is beautifullest when it's a little unsettling.

janos 3d

my ace boyfriend janos di croce made this 3d model based on one of my drawings. i'm so amazed at the result; he made my creepy flie-pixie beautiful.

he's got an online 3d portfolio, although it's more serious for work stuff and not full of faery things. i hope it will be in time though, as i'd love to see more of my drawings come to life!

i love this little mushroom house, i've had it as my desktop for a very long time. it's made by *plusone on deviantart; http://plusone.deviantart.com/ the rest of his work isn't fairytaleish enough to my likikng, though.
