life in pink

I discovered this lady on Flick, and it was love at first sight when I discovered her photostream. I have a slight suspicion that she *might* like pink. As I've said before, more is more, don't let anyone trick you into thinking otherwise. I can't get enough of people who go to extremes.

I think I love my art supplies more than I love anything I could make with them.. so I obviously also love seeing other people's studios work spaces and crafty stuff:

She makes sock creatures, they come in more colours than pink, like this goth sock creature:

But I guess it doesn't come as a big shock that she makes her sock creatures in pink as well:

You can find her sock creatures along with other sugary cute stuff she makes in her Etsy shop: kittypinkstars.etsy.com
And you can also find her on Flickr, blogger, myspace and facebook.

verunicastar!

One of the first things I hearted when I joined Etsy was this uv Buddha necklace by verunicastar:

I drooled over it for ages, so it was such a cool surprise when she contacted me months and months later, suggesting we'd do a trade.

This is her wearing the floppy eared hat I made for her. It totally suits her! I really like the yarn she picked for it as well (and I also really, really like her tattoo!!):

In addition to the uv Buddha chocker I also got a print of one of her beautiful mermaids - I love the way she draws! I haven't bought much art from other people before. I guess I've been thinking that I'm capable to draw or paint stuff myself, so why bother - but it's SUCH a difference having someone else's art up on the wall! It's really refreshening and inspiring to see someone else's style and skills.

This is the mermaid I got:

And here are some of her other cool drawings:

Veruncastar has a blog here on blogger, so go say hello to her! verunicastar.blogspot.com

And check out her Etsy shop filled with mermaids, zombies and funky jewelry!

borderline journal

This is possibly the strangest thing I've found on Etsy so far. I wish I could afford it, but I'm always broke and it costs $375. I don't think it's a bad price for what it is. It must be hard putting a price on something like this - it's someone's personal journal.

This is what the seller has to say about the journal:

"This is my journal from roughly age 16-18. I spent most of that time in psychiatric residential treatment, and mental hospitals. I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, and attempted suicide multiple times. I have toyed with the Idea of cleaning this up, and attempting to get it published, but that has proven too difficult for me, emotionally. It is a standard lined 'marble' notebook. Every page is filled. There are a few drawings, most done in crayon, as that was all I was allowed sometimes." TheBillyburgReject
I'm loving the decorated, taped cover. I used to have journals like this at that age but I burnt them in case someone would read it if I suddenly died:

Click on the pictures to get a bigger version if you want to read the text - I think you should read it, as it's actually a really good read!:

I like the bit about talking loud and singing etc to stay grounded. It reminds me of lucid dreaming and the stuff I do in dreams in order to stay in the dream when I feel I'm about to drift away to wakedness.

I would totally read the rest of this journal. I love secret stuff though, and looking at stuff I'm not supposed to see, so maybe the fact that it is a journal, and supposed to be secret makes it all the more special to me. I bet it makes it special for other people too, just because people are voyeurs. And it's totally different when it's the original, and not a printet copy. It's extra special.

Check out TheBillyburgReject's shop on Etsy if you want to buy the journal!

bragging

i realise this isn't really important for anyone else but me, but i just have to brag about this, as i'm so excited!

i've been featured in etsy's blog "the storque", in an entry about scandinavian sellers!!

they asked me to send me a photo of myself at a place that meant something to me and my work, including a brief description, and i sent them this:

"This is the house i grew up in, in a little village called Feiring. Only ghosts and spiders live there now, and I sometimes go to visit them."

i think i look a bit psycho, but my boyfriend said "oh well it only adds to the eerie feeling.. it's a good thing".

i didn't seriously think they'd use it as i'm all new to etsy, but they did, and they also included my mushroom earrings in the related items:

ho ho i love having a little shop. i realise there's a reason for why things are being produced in india and china and not in norway, but money isn't really the reason for why i'm doing it. i'm doing it because it's SO MUCH FUN! i love to create stuff, and having a shop gives me an excuse to make stuff, it gives me an illusion of doing it for a reason.

i've even made my own business cards and have got hold of a mannequin so i can be all professional..

check out lilly, my mannequin! she doesn't look as psycho as me, she's of the stern, reserved type. she's not as pale and short as me either. in fact, i think she's everything i'm not. i have broader shoulders than her though, and larger ears. at least that's something, eh?

they said in the shop where i got the yellow coloured yarn that it wasn't very popular. what's wrong with yellow?? i won't be very disappointed if the shawl lilly is wearing doesn't sell though, it's fluffy to the max (i'm on an everlasting search for ultimate fluffyness) and so YELLOW that i wouldn't mind keeping it for myself.

check out the storque article for photos of more scandinavian sellers in places that are important to them, and a selection of scandinavian crafts.

UglyShitOnEtsy

i've found this through a person who calls herself UglyShitOnEtsy on twitter. she's going through etsy finding what she thinks is the worst items, and a lot of etsians are angry and hurt by it. i wish people wouldn't get hurt by it though, as it really doesn't matter what this UglyShitPerson thinks about anything. also some of the things she has picked as her "worst-of-etsy" has even turned out to be my new etsy favourites!

if it wasn't for her, i would never have found this educational birthing doll. and i'm so glad i have!

i think it's amazing to see something crocheted being so detailed and so graphic. i bet it is actually really educational for kids too.

upon seeing these photos, my boyfriend said "you totally need one of those!".. i agree!!!!!! i have no money though. i've also showed it to my friend tony, and he said he'll ask his boyfriend if he will get him one for christmas. if he does, i will be green of envy. apparently the lady can make more though, so we can all have one each.

you can buy your own mama doll in CozyColeman's etsy shop.

moss

is just me who have suddenly taken an interest in moss, and then discovered that everyone else loves moss too, or is moss a sort of trendy thing right now??

this summer i tried to steal a bit of moss from the forest and make it grow in my bedroom. the project was a fiasco, mostly because i forgot all about it.

the ace thing about the moss terrariums from the etsy shop madebymavis is that you're SUPPOSED to forget about them. apparently they need very little looking after, and yet they look so green and lush.

maybe i'll have to breathe new life into my moss project, and if i face yet another failure, i might have to order a moss terrarium. they are amazingly beautiful.

check out the etsy shop madebymavis for more moss.

floppy eared hat

check out my new hat design!! i'm quite chuffed with it. as a child, i used to wear panty hoses on my head and prance about in front of the mirror. i thought it was intensely stylish, as if i had long floppy bunny ears, and promised myself that when i got older i would walk about with my floppy bunny ears in public. maybe i'm not old enough yet, as i still haven't got the courage. soo I've designed this hat so that people don't have to embarrass themselves by wearing panty hoses on their heads in public.

i would have posted the pattern if i had taken notes while knitting.. it was sort of an improvised design, but i guess it's possible to figure it out by looking at the photos? i hope so as i want to do more of these! i have put it up for sale in my etsy shop.

the grand opening

i am opening an etsy shop with the name beyond reason at BeyondReason.etsy.com.

there's not much in my little shop yet, in fact this alien kitten is all there is,.. i was just too eager to open my shop and couldn't wait till more stuff was finished.

i'm crafting loads of strange things these days, though, and more stuff will be up soonish.
here are some of the things i'm making:

day of the dead skull beads in polymer clay:

knitted mohair shawls! this colour is amazing, it looks like it should glow in the dark but sadly it doesn't (i had to check):

fungus lover's earrings in polymer clay:

etsy research

i'm doing a bit of research on etsy as i want to start my own etsy shop. i suspect i'll just end up buying tons of uselessness instead of selling my own. i've already bought myself a vintage magic lucky rabbits foot talisman and a vintage crocodile foot pendant. you never know when that will come in handy.

i've also seen other ace things, like this girl who has a shop called perishables. her organic looking jewellery is well innovative, and the way she photographs her work is sometimes very creative.

i also found this picture of a tulle skirt that was for sale. i'm not interested in the skirt though, it's her BOOTS that i'm loving. i remember seeing the very same boots in a shop in oslo when i was a teenager and i drooled and drooled over them but i thought i'd break my legs if i attempted to walk about in them. it's funny to note that my taste in things hasn't changed much sine i was a teenager; i still think these boots are awesome!!:
i already have fluffy legwarmers like these from OsinVinylDoll(and boots and bags and rugs, i have fluffy everything!!). i'm only posting this picture as i think the legwarmers look ace with stockings and suspenders. is it okay walking about like that, or is it too pervy??

ooh and i'd also love to hear about it if any of my readers have etsy shops of their own!
