amanda lepore

upon seeing this photo by i-don't-know-who (do you know who it is by??), i knew i had to find out more about the model. only i couldn't remember the name of the photographer, and i didn't know the name of the model. and yet i found her! as i keep saying; i'm magnetic to things like this.


when i saw more photos of amanda lepore, i realized this wasn't the first time i was fascinated of her; i've also been intrigued by this photo of her by david la chapelle for ages:


the photo by david lachapelle and the one by i-don't-know-who sort of have two different approaches to amanda lepore. the first one is gritty and dark. it speaks of amanda lepore being born armand lepore, it speaks of wanting to be something else- about being transexual, but not in a very cheerful way.

now i like dark stuff, and i like the photo - and i like transexual people and transvestites (hell, if i were a man i'd still wear tutus and glitter make-up) - but i don't know if it's a dignified photo of her? although i guess not everything has to be dignified. it's good to see different sides to things, as there's always more than one truth. and self irony, being able to not take onself too seriously all the time, is important.



i love this photo of pamela anderson and amanda lepore. what a great combination of people, they should walk about together all the time to make people think twice. it makes me think twice.

i sometimes think it's a bit rubbish with all these girls having plastic surgery and breast implants.
yet when someone feels they're born the wrong sex and wants to change it, i'm all supportive.
looking at this photo of pamela and amanda, i feel a bit like a hypocrite. they both want the same thing, so why is it more right for amanda than for pamela? i have to realize that some people just weren't born as perfect as myself, like pamela anderson, so who am i to judge about her need for plastic surgery.. ;)





awwhh this photo sums up my love for amanda lepore; she's such a character - like something out of a comic! she's like a charicature of herself, and i think it's a mighty good charicature.


i watched an interview with amanda lepore on youtube, - she seemed really allert, clever and aware of herself, by the way - and the guy interviewing her asked her why she, as david lachapelle, seemed to embrace the extremes. amanda's answer was that the alternative was just too boring. as i've always said; more is more :)

oh and what do you think of my new layout? does it distract from the content, or does it make the content more easily accessible? good or bad?

old contemporary painting

can you believe that this painting was painted ca 1450?? it has something strangely contemporary about it. maybe it's the clear lines, the vivid colours.. or the fact that the cherubs seems to be wearing latex.. there's a plastic/rubber artificialness about this painting that i wouldn't expect to find in such an old painting - and thus i'm even more pleased to find it, - i like things that aren't as i expected ;)

oh my goth, these are so cool and dark and i love love love old dysfuntional electric stuff. i've done drawings of old electric leads, lamps etc, but it looks so much better (and darker) as rubber sculptures.

i've been looking at flats in berlin lately as i might move there, and was a little shocked when i found this..


it looks nice from the outside, but i obviously wouldn't consider renting the flat if i only planned to stay on the outside. here are the photos of the inside of the flat that they're trying to tempt me with:



if it was dirt cheap, i could have understood them trying to rent it out, but it's not. there's loads of flats in the same area that are all fresh and lovely for the same price - and even cheaper.

... it looks like there's been so many smack junkies living there that they found it hard to move, and nobody bothered to go to the toilet but just shat and pissed on the floor, and they all sweated loads and then they died and nobody knew, so the bodies just rotted and got mouldy and and.. then the landlord found out one day because they didn't pay the rent, so he scraped them out and put the flat up for rent the same day. that's what it looks like. and i don't think a layer of paint will fix it.

my blog won a lemonade award from strawberry anarchy! aww, thanks:) i wish i had a beer to celebrate (there's always a reason to celebrate, i just need to buy more beer).

i guess i'm meant to nominate some of my favourite blogs for the same prize now, as that is sort of the rules of the game, - but i've never been known to follow rules.
instead i'll just say that i really like strawberry anarchy's blog too, check it out, it's a lot like my blog, only cuter and more rainbow coloured.

sensual dolls by marina bychkova

aahh marina bychkova is such a talented doll artist. i have a special interest in dolls. i guess i'm a bit childish, i like toys and miniatures, but that's not all there's to it. i find the body, being a body, being a person really interesting. i find it interesting that humans keep making copies of themselves in the shape of dolls. a human is thought and body, the doll is a strange copy as it is devoid of thought; it is only body. to me, it is a disturbing copy; the human all objectified. i don't think it's a negative copy though; anything that is disturbing makes me question things, and questioning things isn't negative. also, marina's dolls are really pretty, it makes questioning things more fun. another thing is that the body being "objectified" sort of gives off sexual associations, which makes it even more fun to question things.

this doll kind of looks like me from the back, when i used to henna my hair. maybe because my hair was the same length and equally brittle and damaged, like doll's hair:









i've been kind enough to enlarge certain ereas for all my readers. i love how marina bychkova doesn't make sexless barbie crotches, but makes her dolls more sensual, with pink nipples, detailed private bits etc. it looks amazing on most of her dolls, but upon seeing this picture i had to laugh out loud. i showed a similar photo of the doll on the left to my boyfriend, and he exclaimed "oh my god, her pussy looks like the mouth of a dog!!"
i don't think it has anything to do with their pussies being detailed or hairy, i think it's more of a fact that the dolls are ball jointed and it's hard to make things look ok in all positions - when the dolls stand up, their vaginas is sort of situated flat on the stomach. maybe it looks more normal when the doll is sitting down. i love this picture of them standing up though, i think dog mouth pussies is funny for girls with such beautiful, dignified faces.

these paintings by juno doran are fantastic. so incredibly photo realistic (check it out, truls, she's even doing the camera out of focus blur thing that we talked about!). i love how she's captured the excessive hair gel, the smudgy make-up, all the little imperfections. so honest and true about teen angst, yet the people in her paintings still remain cool.

michal macku body pictures

michal macku uses a self invented technique called "gellage" to create strange morphed body images.

"The technique consists of transfer the exposed and fixed photographic emulsion from its original base on paper. This transparent and plastic gelatin substance makes it possible to reshape and reform the original images, changing their relationships and endowing them with new meanings during the transfer" link

hasn't he heard of photoshop? although i guess everyone has a computer with photoshop now, "gellage" is maybe a bit more unique.





the first image by michal macku reminds me of some simple body drawings i did a while back. i tried looking for them, but only found one:

michal macku must have seen my drawing somehow and copied me. maybe he hacked my brain in search for inspiration. it happens aaaaall the timeee. i better start wearing a tin foil helmet to stop the psychic theft of ideas.

yuji moriguchi was the artist i was going to blog about yesterday before i got sidetracked with art (tentacle) history.


i was visiting my friends ben and kat once, when ben had just been given giant african land snails by kat. i started giggling when i saw the snails. there was quite a few people there, and i assumed everyone in the room thought the same as me. i thought i'd break the silence by putting into words what everyone had on their mind; "i wonder if many girls uses giant african land snails as sex toys?"

everyone looked at me a bit funny, and i looked at them a bit funny; i can't believe they didn't think of that? not that i'm into snails, but i can see the potential.
